According to Korean media portal Soompi, on August 29, it was announced that BLACKPINK’s ‘Pink Venom’ had debuted at No. 1 on both the Global 200 and the Global Excl. U.S. charts with the second-largest worldwide weekly streaming total since the charts were introduced in September 2020. This makes BLACKPINK the first female group in history and ‘Pink Venom’ the first K-pop song released in 2022 to top the Global 200.

The feature marks the group's highest peak on the chart after previously peaking at No. 2 in October 2020 with ‘Lovesick Girls’. As the report notes, the 2020 track previously topped the Global Excl. U.S. chart, making “Pink Venom” BLACKPINK’s second song to achieve this feat. BLACKPINK is now only the third act to achieve such a milestone on the Global Excl. U.S. chart multiple times, after BTS and Justin Bieber.

Moreover, ‘Pink Venom’ entered this week's 'Hot 100' chart at No. 22, with approximately 212.1 million streams 36,000 downloads worldwide for the week of August 19-25. During the same tracking week, the song racked up 198.1 million streams and 27,000 download sales in territories outside of the U.S. The feature marks BLACKPINK’s eighth career entry and their fourth top 40 hit, after ‘Ice Cream’ with Selena Gomez, ‘How You Like That’, and ‘Sour Candy’ with Lady Gaga.

Notably, ‘Pink Venom’ recently also became the fastest K-pop music video of 2022 to surpass 200 million views, the highest-ranking song by a female K-pop act on Spotify’s weekly Global Top Songs chart, and the first K-pop song in history to debut at No. 1 on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA)’s Singles Chart.

Moreover, BLACKPINK made an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards where member Lisa won the Best K-Pop Award at the VMA 2022 for her song ‘Lalisa’. The quartet will next follow the release of ‘Pink Venom’ with BORN PINK on September 16. A month later, they will embark on what is being billed as “the largest world tour by a K-pop girl group in history.”

The tour will begin with two dates in Seoul, before heading to North America, the UK and Europe before the end of 2022. The shows will then continue across the globe until the middle of 2023.
