The race sequence:

The race sequence has major vfx work, explains Naveen. "There are many CG elements; smoke, dust and sparks have been created to enhance the effect. We have made use of multi-composite plates too."
In the race sequence, the dust and spark elements are enhanced and there is a walk through of the car engine. They basically have a noze fitted in the car and by showing the walk-through, the power of the car engine has been emphasised.
The cars used in the sequence are real but the humps seen in the sequence are not. The humps seen here are all rigs to give them the height to jump over. The cars have been multiplied as well and then the colours of the cars were replaced to create a distinction between them. There were ten real cars and were made to look like a race between 50 cars.
This sequence is a mix of live cars and CG cars. It is a mix and match because the director, Rohit Shetty wanted it to be so. There are blast and smoke enhancements used and the shot where the guys fly out of the car is a multi-plate composite shot. In the background, CG debris was created and the sound effects in the film added to the vfx. Even the car-wreck scene was a live shoot but enhanced with vfx.
Inside the car, the GPS system monitor is also CG generated. In the race track background, the trees were shot separately and then increased in number by CG.
