The Piazza Navona sequence required digital set extension to partially built environments. An 80 foot long reproduction of half of the Piazza Navona was built on a parking lot in LA, the opposite half was a green screen set which was later replicated using camera projections taken from the real piazza.
One of the most difficult jobs for the compositing team was the Piazza Navona sequence required detailed integration of studio shot plates with CG environments that needed lighting and lens effects balancing to tie the two together in a photorealistic way.
