It is a known fact that recently the crew of Raazi shifted to Delhi after shooting in the hilly regions and beautiful valleys of Kashmir. Owing to the unrest in Punjab due to the Dera controversy, the team of Raazi had shift to the capital to complete their shoot.
The popular hostel in the University of Delhi called the Miranda House was the location where a pivotal scene with Alia Bhatt was being shot. With permissions in place, Meghna Gulzar recreated the 70s with Alia sporting bell bottoms along with the actors playing her batch mates. What was further interesting about the attire were the winter clothes donned by actors since the scenes were supposed to be shot at the backdrop of winter. Going by the pictures, we believe that this scene had Alia Bhatt being saved by a friend from a car that almost tried to hit her.
We hear that despite all efforts, there were several students [hostel mates residing in Miranda House] who came out in their galleries to catch a glimpse of the shoot. The college authorities, the principal Pratibha Jolly reportedly asserted that they tried to maintain as much discipline during the shoot and the students ensured that they wouldn’t disturb the crew in their attempts to get a sneak peek into the shoot. Pratibha also further added that the director of the film Meghna Gulzar will be returning to the University of Delhi to give the students a lecture on theatre and cinema.
Talking about the film, for the uninitiated, Raazi is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat which features Alia Bhatt as a Kashmiri spy who marries a Pakistani soldier and provides information to Indian intelligence.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Dharma Productions, Raazi has Vicky Kaushal in the role of Alia Bhatt’s husband and it is expected to release on May 11 next year.
