Anushka Sharma is all set to impress us on screen again and this time, in a never before seen role! Well, we are ready to see this diva spread gloom and spook our senses with her ghost act in Pari. The movie is co-produced by her banner Clean Slate Films along with KriArj Entertainment and have all the elements to be impressive horror flick. After a long time, we have a film out and out from this genre and we already can’t keep calm. The makers very indulgently released seven screamers in place of one big trailer. With this, the story of the film was NOT revealed and mystique and intrigue was successfully built around the movie, which has actually worked well for the makers.
Despite all this, it sure is a risk to star in a film which is not your commercial masala vehicle. Anushka sure is getting into an unchartered territory here but she needs validation of masses more than ever with Pari. Here’s why.
1. Anushka’s past films failed to create havoc on BO
Both Harry Met Sejal and Phillauri were box office disappointments. Anushka sure impressed us with Ali Abbas Zafar’s Sultan but the focus was more on Salman Khan there and less on her character. Now, therefore it is important that she proves her mettle once again to assert her position back in the tinsel town. Moreover, this is her third production. While NH10 was appreciated by both critics and masses, Phillauri did not do too well. With Pari, she definitely needs a grand comeback.
2. Pari: First release after marriage
Anushka Sharma was a lot in the news lately, but more for her personal life than her professional achievements. We know how this actor is passionate about her craft and is an extremely private person. She never accepted being in a relationship with Virat Kohli and kept her marriage a secret, successfully from the prying eyes of the press. She does not like to talk about anything outside her work and therefore, success of Pari will definitely steer attention away from her new marriage and put focus back on the talented actress’ film career.
3. Anushka’s first attempt at horror
Though the actress played a ‘friendly ghost’ in Phillauri, Pari is her first full-fledged role and it sure is exciting break for us to watch her in this outing. We will get to see her at her spookiest best and the teasers of the movie have raised our expectations. All leading stars in Bollywood have tried this genre and success of this film will establish Anushka as an ultimate versatile performer.
Pari will hit screens on March 2 and has an advantage of a long weekend. But one must also consider that the Kartik Aryan starrer Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, which released last week, is running strong in theatres. But since this film falls under a totally diverse genre, there is a chance that it may turn into a crowd puller too.
