Official trailer for Pretty Lethal released ahead of SXSW premiere and Prime Video debut
The official trailer for Pretty Lethal has been released, offering a closer look at the film’s mix of ballet, survival drama and dark humour ahead of its festival debut and global streaming launch.
Directed by Vicky Jewson, the film follows five ballerinas travelling to a prestigious competition who find themselves stranded in a remote forest when their bus breaks down. With no immediate help available, they take shelter at a secluded roadside inn run by a withdrawn former ballet prodigy portrayed by Uma Thurman. What begins as an uneasy stopover gradually turns into a dangerous situation, forcing the dancers to rely on their discipline and physical training to survive.
The ensemble cast includes Maddie Ziegler, Lana Condor, Iris Apatow, Avantika and Millicent Simmonds, bringing together performers known for both screen presence and movement-driven roles.
Speaking about the project, Jewson said, “In Pretty Lethal, I wanted to bring the highly specific skillset of a ballerina to the action space. We created a world built on the broken dreams of a dancer, played by the iconic Uma Thurman. This world and our incredible young cast gave me the freedom to swing between horror, comedy and action to create a breathless rollercoaster ride. The troupe embraces team work, sisterhood and ballet-fu in order to stay alive. Dance like your life depends on it!”
The film is set to have its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival before streaming globally on Prime Video on March 25, 2026.
With its unusual premise and ensemble-driven narrative, Pretty Lethal positions itself as a genre-blending thriller that combines performance, tension and character conflict in a contained setting.
