MONSTA X’s Shownu & Hyungwon set to debut as group’s first unit
South Korean pop group MONSTA X’s Shownu and Hyungwon are officially confirmed to debut as the group’s first-ever unit! On May 3, TV Report reported that Hyungwon and Shownu are preparing to debut as a unit this summer. The group’s agency Starship Entertainment confirmed, “Shownu and Hyungwon are preparing to form MONSTA X’s first unit.”
They added, “The specific schedule has not been decided yet. We will officially announce when the exact schedule has been decided. Please anticipate it a lot.” The announcement follows Shownu's recent discharge from the military, where he completed his mandatory service as a public service worker on April 21.
At present, MONSTA X is functioning as a group of five since Minhyuk has recently started his military service. Additionally, Joohoney is set to make his solo debut later this month.
