“Shah Rukh Khan respects women a lot,” says Jawan co-star Nayanthara; admits being his fan

Nayanthara, the highly regarded South Indian actress also known as "Lady Thalaivi," recently shared her experience of collaborating with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in Atlee's Jawan. This marked Nayanthara's much-anticipated Bollywood debut.

In a candid interview with Hello magazine, Nayanthara expressed her excitement about reuniting with director Atlee, a close friend. When questioned about sharing the screen with Shah Rukh Khan in the action-thriller, her response was simple: "Who doesn't love him? We have all grown up watching his films and we all love them."

 

Nayanthara couldn't hold back her admiration for Shah Rukh Khan, stating, "Apart from being the huge star that he is, I really admire the fact that he respects women a lot... I was pretty sure that Jawan would create a huge impact. After working so many years in the industry you know when a film is going to work and vice versa."

 

Jawan, an action-packed spectacle, featured Nayanthara as Narmada Rai. Shah Rukh Khan delivered a powerful dual role as father and son. The film also boasted a star-studded supporting cast, including Deepika Padukone in a special appearance and Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist. Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Riddhi Dogra, Sunil Grover, Girija Oak, Omkar Das Manikpuri played pivotal roles, with a special appearance by Sanjay Dutt.

 

The same interview revealed a heartwarming detail about Nayanthara's personal life.  She and her husband, director Vignesh Shivan, disclosed that Dhanush unknowingly played matchmaker for them. Vignesh Shivan recounted, "Dhanush sir made me narrate the story (of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan) to Nayan (Nayanthara). She liked it. Once she came on board, I was able to cast actor Vijay Sethupathi, who was initially not keen to do this film... But he agreed after Nayan said yes. The movie paved the way for me to spend a lot of time around her. We got involved within a year."
