As Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai clocks 20 years, Ameesha Patel reveals how she accidentally became an actor

Two decades since a youngtster, who'd eventually become the nation's heartthrob, took his first step into Bollywood. Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai completing 20 years might make so many of us feel old, but the charm Hrithik Roshan brought along with him is unforgettable. With Hrithik, debutante Ameesha Patel also entered the glamour industry.

In a recent interview, Ameesha opened up on how she had no plans to become an actor, and was rather busy with her academics. Her father happened to be a school friend of Rakesh Roshan, and Roshan approached her with a film when she was only 14. However, Ameesha's father denied it. Years later, when Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai was being planned, she happened to stumble upon the director at a wedding.

 

Interestingly enough, Ameesha wasn't even supposed to go to that wedding, but accompanied her father since her mother wasn't keeping well. Roshan didn't recognise a grown-up Ameesha, and asked her father who was she. She was shortly invited for lunch at the Roshans' residence, and the film was offered to her.

 

Two years after Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, the duo again teamed up for Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage. That didn't prove to be as much as a success as the first time, though.

 

Ameesha added that she'd love to reunite with Hrithik. So would we!
