B.O. update: 'G-3' takes the lead, 'AR' starts slow

 

The much-awaited Diwali releases witnessed the clash of two biggies – GOLMAAL 3, a successful brand and ACTION REPLAYY, which brings the triumphant Akshay-Vipul Shah Jodi after a hiatus. G-3 had managed good advance bookings prior to its release and therefore, the opening and noon shows started on an 80% to 90% note at several screens. On the other hand, ACTION REPLAYY had a below average start of 20% to 30% to 40% across several screens, which did come as a surprise since Akshay Kumar starrers generally open to a good response. The difference between the business of G-3 and ACTION REPLAYY was quite huge, with G-3 taking a big lead from its first show onwards.

The releases coincided with the festivities and Laxmi pooja, which explains why the business showed a decline from noon till evening shows on Friday. However, the business did show an escalation during night shows. The business is expected to show a massive jump on Saturday and Sunday and both, G-3 and ACTION REPLAYY are expected to gross very good numbers.
