Heroine wins smoking battle in HC

By Bollywood Hungama News Network -

A few days back we heard reports that Madhur Bhandarkar's upcoming film Heroine had run into trouble with the censor board on the issue of onscreen smoking. Apparently, the censor board wasn't too pleased with the 35-37 frames that featured the actress blowing smoke.

Following it up, the board asked the makers to run an anti-smoking ticker in each of the scenes. None too happy with the decision, the makers of the film approached the Delhi High Court appealing this decision claiming that it was illogical to add the ticker now that the film is complete.

However, now we hear that the High Court has ruled in favour of Heroine's makers. A spokesperson from UTV issued a statement saying, "We are happy that the High Court has seen the merit in our case and upheld our appeal. We respect the guidelines issued by the Ministry but our request was that they should be made applicable to films that are now going into production and not to films like Heroine that had already completed production when the new guidelines were issued."
