The India House: First Look Saiee M Manjrekar revealed? Actress sports fierce avatar in Ram Charan - backed period drama
Actress Saiee M Manjrekar is set to explore a different on-screen persona with The India House, an upcoming period action-drama produced by Ram Charan. A photograph reportedly taken during the film’s ongoing shoot in Estonia has offered a glimpse of the actress in character, generating curiosity about her role in the historical drama.
In the image, Saiee is seen wearing a white, full-sleeved blouse paired with a floor-length maroon skirt, dark stockings and white shoes. With her hair left open, the actress holds a flaming torch above her head, while what appears to be a protest banner can be seen in the background. Her look and intense expression suggest a character associated with the political unrest and revolutionary activities explored in the film.
The appearance marks a departure from Saiee’s previous screen outings, with her styling reflecting the period in which the story is set. While the makers have yet to officially reveal the details of her character, the photograph has offered an early indication of the world the film seeks to recreate.
A source close to the production shared, “Saiee’s character in India House is quite different from what audiences have seen her do before. Her look is rooted in the period, and the image captures the spirit of a character who appears to stand for something bigger than herself. There is a certain intensity to her role, and audiences will get to see a new side of her as an actor.”
Directed by debutant filmmaker Ram Vamsi Krishna, The India House features Nikhil Siddhartha as the male lead along with Saiee M Manjrekar as the female lead with Anupam Kher in leading roles. Kher portrays Shyamji Krishna Varma, the Indian nationalist and revolutionary thinker whose activities played a significant role in the country's freedom movement.
Set in London around 1905, the film draws inspiration from the historic India House, a student residence that became an important centre for Indian nationalists and revolutionaries living in Britain. The establishment provided a platform for discussions on India's independence and became associated with several figures involved in the anti-colonial movement.
Against this historical backdrop, The India House combines a love story with the growing revolutionary movement among Indians living abroad. The narrative is expected to explore the personal relationships and political circumstances unfolding during a significant period in the country's struggle for independence.
The project is being produced by Ram Charan under his banner V Mega Pictures, alongside Abhishek Agarwal of Abhishek Agarwal Arts and Vikram Reddy. The film is among the projects backed by Charan as he continues to expand his involvement in film production beyond his work as an actor.
The production has been filming across Indian and international locations, with Estonia serving as one of its European shooting destinations. The overseas schedule is expected to help recreate the historical setting of early 20th-century London, which forms the backdrop for the story.
Positioned as a pan-India project, The India House is being developed for release in multiple Indian languages. Its combination of historical events, period drama, action and romance places the film within a genre that has continued to attract interest from filmmakers and audiences alike.
The film is targeting a theatrical release in late 2026 or 2027. Further details about the characters, the story and the release schedule are awaited as production progresses.
