Nayanthara joins Rajinikanth starrer Dharman in special role; makers unveil announcement poster
Nayanthara is the latest addition to the cast of Dharman, the upcoming Tamil action-entertainer headlined by Rajinikanth. On October 25, the makers, Raaj Kamal Films International, officially welcomed the popular actor on board through a social media announcement, sparking curiosity about her role in the much-anticipated film.
Sharing the announcement on Instagram, the production house wrote, “THE AURA IS DOUBLE. Welcoming the one and only @nayanthara to DHARMAN”. The post tagged the film’s team and featured an image of Rajinikanth and Nayanthara in shadowed silhouettes, keeping her look under wraps. The cryptic visual offered a glimpse of the pairing without revealing further details about her character.
The announcement followed an earlier teaser from the makers, who had shared an image of a camera capturing only a pair of eyes. The accompanying caption read, “Some Eyes say it all ?? THE CHARISMA ARRIVES I Today at 7:02 PM”. The post hinted at a new addition to the cast before Nayanthara’s name was officially revealed.
Written and directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, known for Oh My Kadavule and Dragon, Dharman features Rajinikanth in the titular role. The ensemble cast also includes Simran, Raashii Khanna, Ram Pothineni and Yogi Babu, with Nayanthara set to make a special appearance. The makers have yet to disclose details about her character or the film’s storyline.
While the plot remains under wraps, Dharman is being positioned as a high-energy action drama with a contemporary tone. The narrative is expected to showcase Rajinikanth in a lively, youthful avatar as his character navigates interpersonal conflicts and moral dilemmas.
The film is produced by Kamal Haasan and R. Mahendran under the banner of Raaj Kamal Films International, in association with Turmeric Media. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music, while Red Giant Movies is handling distribution.
Dharman is slated for a theatrical release in January 2027, around the Pongal festive window. With Nayanthara now joining the cast, further details about the film and its characters are awaited.
