Farhan Akhtar pens an emotional tribute to Lata Mangeshkar, recalls a story from his father Javed Akhtar
The death of Lata Mangeshkar on February 6 has left the nation in deep grief. While the world mourns the singer's death, tributes have continued to pour in for her. Farhan Akhtar also used his Twitter account on February 7, to pen an emotional message. He complemented her vocal abilities and related an anecdote that his father, Javed Akhtar, had once told him.
On his own Twitter account, Farhan Akhar also paid tribute to the legendary musician, writing, , "Listening to Lata-ji’s songs today & remembered dad telling me what a renowned classical musician once told him.. if you take a strand of hair and split it, then split it further and further, till it cannot be split anymore, that’s how accurate Lata-ji’s sur is. Pitch perfect (sic)," along with a heart emoji.
At the age of 92, Lata Mangeshkar passed away. On January 8, she was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19. Over the last few weeks, she has been receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Her health deteriorated recently after showing signs of improvement, and she died yesterday, February 6. Lata Mangeshkar was cremated in Mumbai's Shivaji Park.
Lata Mangeshkar's seven-decade career included hits like ‘Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo,’ ‘Lag Jaa Gale,’ ‘Yeh Kahan Aagaye Hain Hum’, and ‘Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya,’ among others. She received numerous honors for her outstanding talent, including the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
