Chandrayaan 2: Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu and others hail ISRO scientists for successful launch
The much talked about ISRO moon mission witnessed Chandrayaan 2 set off on its journey to the moon today at 2.43pm IST from Sriharikota. The launch was scheduled for July 15 but due to technical issues, it was postponed to July 22. ISRO Chief Kailasavadivoo Sivan said that Chandrayaan-2 has been launched successfully. "Isro has bounced back with flying colours after serious technical snag,” said Sivan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the "prowess" of India's scientists and the "determination" of its citizens. "#Chandrayaan2 is unique because it will explore and perform studies on the south pole region of lunar terrain which is not explored and sampled by any past mission. This mission will offer new knowledge about the Moon," he wrote on Twitter.
Bollywood celebrities also hailed ISRO scientists for the successful launch. Mission Mangal stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Taapsee Pannu celebrated the launch and praised everyone involved in it.
