Yet another week passes by, but the story remains the same. The tally of flops continues to escalate. Barring BAABARR, which fared well at single screens in North, the remaining releases underperformed everywhere.

Every Friday is packed with movies and the competition is bound to get fierce from the week onwards. Check out the 'Release Dates' section at Bollywood Hungama and you'd agree, there's hardly any breathing space between movies.

 

My question to the producers is, can't films be pushed to early next year, instead of having multiple films each week?

 

Last Friday's VAADA RAHA went completely unnoticed. It came without any hype whatsoever. Ditto for AAMRAS and RUSLAAN, which drew poor collections.

 

While recording an interview with Karan Johar for my daily show on TV, the film-maker made a valid observation vis-à-vis the marketing of a film. Karan opined that marketing a film is as crucial as making a film today. I endorse this viewpoint completely. You can't expect audiences to flock plexes if you don't invest any effort in marketing your film.

 

As for BAABARR, I genuinely feel that the business would've been stronger had it not opened during Ramzan. The film picked up at single screens of North India and I hope it maintains the tempo in its second weekend as well. This one's a well-made film and deserves to succeed.
