Sanjay Drops Period Film

While on one hand more and more film-makers are attempting period films/historicals, you also hear producers aborting plans if the project seems unviable. Actor Sanjay Kapoor, who has decided to float his independent production concern and has assigned the directorial reins to Vikram Bhatt, has decided against making a period film. The solo hero project that we were planning to make was costing approx. Rs. 10 crores on paper, which means that the budget would've touched Rs. 12 crores by the time we would've completed filming it. That seemed unviable and unrealistic, hence we decided to drop the project, Sanjay tells me. So, what is he planning to make now? Well, we've still to decide on that. Vikram has been shooting outdoors for months now [ELAAN in Europe, JURM in Malaysia] and we plan to sit down and decide on a fresh subject the moment he returns to Mumbai. It will be a contemporary subject, that's for sure, he enlightens. Well, knowing the Kapoors and their penchant for larger than life movies, one thing is for sure Sanjay's production debut will also boast of grand production values, irrespective of its genre.
