SS Rajamouli's RRR takes a fair advance at the box office; headed for Rs. 13 crore day one

The biggest Indian film, RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli is just a day away from its release and the excitement is in the air. While the Southern states have already put up a houseful board in advance, headed to create box office history, the Hindi markets are strongly dependent on the spot bookings through the day.

The movie has clocked an approximate advance booking of Rs. 4 crore nett for the opening day across India. With this, the movie is certainly headed towards an opening day of Rs. 13 to 14 crores, which can go higher if the audience word of mouth is on the positive side. SS Rajamouli has not gone wrong as a director and if the talk in the audience is positive, the word of mouth can even result in the film clocking the Rs. 15 crore mark, which is a very good number for a film featuring two fresh faces – Jr. NTR and Ram Charan - in the Hindi markets.

 

The multiplexes have put up a fair advance figure, and there is a considerable enquiry from the audience at the single screens too, which should give the film a jump start at the ticket windows on Friday. The team of RRR has certainly gone wrong on the pricing front, as the ticket rates are at an all-time high, surpassing the prices of 83 and Spiderman. The high ticket prices have made the film dependent on audience word of mouth, as it's only positive talk that will push and escalate the ticket sales.

 

A moderate pricing policy might have resulted in bigger footfalls as also more revenues in advance, but the high pricing means, audience will wait for the reviews of trusted people around, before spending such exorbitant money on the film. If the reports are as good as one expects them to be, sky will be the limit as the film has the potential to even double its opening day figure on Sunday. The idea of it being directed by the one who took the globe by storm with Baahubali will be the biggest attraction and result in word of mouth to spread faster than ever before.

 

But as we speak now, RRR is headed for a Rs. 13 crore start, which can go up to even Rs. 15 crore depending on audience word of mouth, as positive talk would mean extraordinary turn around of the audience towards evening and night shows.
