Chhaava Box Office: Vicky Kaushal starrer shatters box office predictions, roars to Rs. 121.43 crores in first weekend

Filmmaker Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava took an impressive opening on Friday by earning Rs. 31.10 crores. It took a jump in numbers on Saturday by amassing Rs. 39.30 crores. From here on, the film was, obviously, expected to take another jump on Sunday. However, it surpassed expectations and went onto collect as much as Rs. 49.03 crores in the day.

Not many would have expected the movie to touch Rs. 50 crores in one day, at a time when a lot of films struggle to reach that number in their lifetime collections.

 

The Sunday number has ensured that Chhaava, which stars Vicky Kaushal in the lead, has had a phenomenal first weekend of Rs. 121.43 crores. Hence, all pre-release predictions have been shattered by the audience by quite a margin.

 

As Chhaava is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the film has performed exceptionally well in Maharashtra, where it has shattered records. But the movie has been received well in north India as well. From here on, it needs to maintain its numbers in the weekday period of Monday to Thursday, in order to get a tag of a ‘blockbuster’ by the time it finishes its run at the box office.
