Top 5: 'Raajneeti' has Rs. 56 cr. Week 1, dist. share approx. Rs. 30 cr. +
| Rank | Film | Producer | Verdict | Last Week |
| 1 | Raajneeti | Prakash Jha | Has emerged the biggest opener of this year so far and at several places, the second biggest opener, after '3 Idiots'. The film collected an awe-inspiring approx. Rs. 56 cr. nett in Week 1. The breakup is as follows:- Opening weekend was Rs. 34 cr. nett and weekdays were Rs. 22 cr. nett. The first week distributors' share works out to approx. Rs. 30 cr. +, which is truly earth-shattering. The film has set new records at several centres and the forthcoming biggies will not only be compared with '3 Idiots' and 'Ghajini' [in terms of Weekend 1 and Week 1 numbers], but also 'Raajneeti' henceforth. With no major opposition in the coming week, the film should maintain super-strong collections in Weekend 2 and Week 2 as well | New |
| 2 | Kites | Rakesh Roshan | Disaster | 1 |
| 3 | Badmaash Company | Aditya Chopra | Will recover costs and make profits from theatrical and non-theatrical revenues | 2 |
