The actress also spoke about her views on the paparazzi. “Sometimes the paparazzi can be irritating. They don’t want to listen. If someone wants to stay away from the limelight, you cannot force them to behave a certain way,” she said.
However, she stood by her belief that she is a good person. “I don’t like to compare. But I consider myself a better person. I know that. First, you have to know yourself to understand others,” she added.
Talking about her past rivalry with Jaya Bachchan, Moushumi admitted there were tensions. “Oh yes, there were underlying connections. Rivalry was there, and I had also heard some stories,” she said. But she added that she remained indifferent. “I was not made only for acting. I had a choice. I came from a home where there was already a car and servants. So I was not working to achieve those things.”
Moushumi also recalled how Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya’s husband, once allegedly got her removed from a film. She said this happened during the casting of Barsaat Ki Ek Raat, a film directed by Shakti Samanta.
“One day, Shakti uncle called me and asked, ‘Did you have any fight with Amitabh Bachchan?’ I told him, ‘Uncle, I am not so close to anyone that they would fight with me. I am very cordial and nice,’” she shared.
Moushumi claimed the director told her, “That is the problem. Most of the heroes say, ‘Why take Moushumi? We don’t have the right tuning with her.’”
Years later, however, Moushumi and Amitabh worked together again in Piku, where she played a small role.
