EXCLUSIVE: “In Bigg Boss you just need to fight for 1-2 hours in a day, Khatron Ke Khiladi is more challenging,” reveals Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia

By Keyur Seta Sat May 24 17:31:43 IST Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia has spoken out about mental health on quite a few occasions. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, it was pointed out to her that even today a lot of people, including the educated lot, don’t consider mental health as a serious issue.

To this, the actress said, “For those who are in denial when it comes to mental health, I feel it is a very educated uneducated approach. There is so much stress in our needy lives. Whether it’s related to family or finance, everyone is a lot stressed. Instead of ignoring it, we should identity with it. I think if we approach just like we approach something like fever, it will benefit the society. The happier our youth is the more our country will also flourish.”

Nimrit is known for her stints in reality TV shows Bigg Boss 16 and Khatron Ke Khiladi 14. When asked whether being inside the Bigg Boss house for long had an effect on her mental health, she said, “It was a very different experience for me because I am always someone who looks at the glass half full. After staying inside the house, I realized the kind of patience, mental strength and tolerance I have. No matter how difficult the circumstances were, I didn’t let myself break. Even if I did, I knew how to put myself together. So, for me it was a life-changing experience at a personal level.”

She added, “I hadn’t fully recovered then. But today I feel that if during my low phase I can flourish in that environment, I am very well prepared for the challenges life will throw in the future in my day-to-day life. I also felt this during Khatron that we underestimate ourselves so much but we are our own strength.”

Answering which of the two shows was more challenging, Nimrit said, “You can feel emotional challenges in Bigg Boss because you are cut off from your family and friends, so you feel very isolated. But Khatron, as a show, I found more challenging because when your body gives up, how will you mentally push yourself? It is physically and mentally draining because after a point, your body will say, ‘Nahin boss, yeh nahin ho payega’. You need a different level of courage to push yourself in that situation. So, for me Khatron was more challenging than Bigg Boss.”

She added about the Salman Khan hosted show, “In Bigg Boss, you just need to fight for 1-2 hours out of 24 hours as per the footage (laughs). You always have the comfort of food and sleep. Bigg Boss is not physically draining as much as Khatron.”

Nimrit recently made her debut in the Punjabi film industry through the movie Shaunki Sardar.
