Kantara Box Office: Film is in a world of its own, is the only film not impacted on Monday

Even though there are three new Hindi films in the running and two holdover releases, it is Kantara (Hindi) which is keeping its flag high and enjoying an uninterrupted run. The trending so far is reminding of Pushpa (Hindi) which had also started slow and then went on to go on and on for many weeks in succession. The difference though is that the Allu Arjun starrer had come in its own by the close of first week itself and all it needed was steady collections in a day-by-day basis. In case of Kantara (Hindi), the country woke up to it after around a couple of weeks.

The results were first seen in the third week which was the biggest of them all and now in the fourth week, the collections are headed towards being even better. This was first seen in the weekend gone by when the collections went past the Rs. 10 crores mark, courtesy Saturday and Sunday being over Rs. 4 crores each. Now the weekdays are set to add on added moolah as well with Monday turning out to be Rs. 2 crores. This means the film, which had collected Rs. 64.40 crores so far, could well have a fourth week in the vicinity of Rs. 20 crores, something that 90% of the films this year have failed to bring in their first week itself!

 

As for PhoneBhoot, it may unfortunately have a lifetime of under Rs. 20 crores. The film could not see a jump in numbers that it warranted during the weekend and all hopes rested on weekdays being closer to Friday. However, the start has not been on these lines with Monday turning out to be Rs. 1.34 crores. As a result, the collections stand at Rs. 9.19 crores and the first week could well be headed towards Rs. 13-14 crores range. This one definitely should be doing lot more, considering the entertainment quotient that it carries.
