The Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi released a week ago, and since then the film has been unstoppable at the box office. After opening on a strong note, the business of the film saw immense growth over its opening weekend, with collections holding strong on its first Monday as well. With positive reviews and good word of mouth, the business of Gangubai Kathiawadi continued to rake in the moolah on the subsequent week days as well. Now at the end of its first week in theatres the film has managed to collect Rs. 68.93 cr.

Though leading the list of Alia’s highest grossers are previous releases like Gully Boy that collected Rs. 100.30 cr, Kalank that collected Rs. 73.70 cr, and Badrinath Ki Dulhania that collected Rs. 73.66 cr, the business of Gangubai Kathiawadi does manage to out beat the collections of her other releases like Raazi that collected Rs. 56.59 cr, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania that collected Rs. 53.31 cr, Udta Punjab that collected Rs. 48.5 cr, Student of the Year that collected Rs. 48 cr, and Dear Zindagi that collected Rs. 47 cr.

 

Currently, Gangubai Kathiawadi that enjoys the audiences’ favours still continues to run in theatres. If that wasn’t all with the relaxation of pandemic protocols, and theatres resuming normalcy with 100% occupancy the business of the film is likely to see a jump in collections. In fact, trade estimates state that Gangubai Kathiawadi will see a good increase in collections over its second weekend. Given the film’s momentum it is likely that the business of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial will close the gap to the Rs. 100 cr mark if not cross it by the end of its second weekend in theatres.
