Box Office: Sultan has a good Saturday, Great Grand Masti continues to suffer

 

Expectedly, Sultan jumped again on Saturday and brought in Rs. 11.46 crore more on its second Saturday. The film has now accumulated Rs. 248.05 crore at the box office and by this afternoon, it would have crossed the Rs. 250 crore mark. The film is now less than Rs. 30 crore away from Dhoom 3 [Rs. 284 crore] and it would be interesting to see in how many more days that milestone is surpassed.Box Office: Sultan has a good Saturday, Great Grand Masti continues to suffer

 

Sultan is practically the only film in the running and almost has a solo advantage since Great Grand Masti has failed miserably. In fact, the lesser screen count due to the arrival of the adult-horror-comedy won't make much of a difference either since the Salman Khan starrer still has an advantage of good show timings. Moreover, it isn't as if the film is running to houseful shows everywhere due to which it needs more screens. Yash Raj Films pretty much have optimal second week occupancy for Sultan and it is now on the film to score as much as it can.

 

As for Great Grand Masti, it has turned out to be an out and out commercial disaster. The film had almost similar collections as Friday and currently stands only around the Rs. 5 crore mark. This is very bad for the film and it is apparent that piracy killed it completely. At least, if the film would have seen a normal release, there would have been some sort of occupancy over the weekend despite negative feedback. However, zilch audience for the film means Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Urvashi Rautela would be mighty disappointed with the way Great Grand Masti has turned out at the box office.
