Singham Returns featuring Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor released last week to packed houses. While the film has been faring well at the box-office, we decided to take a comparative view of the film's business.

In this Box-Office analysis, we compare the Opening Weekend collections of Singham Returns to its prequel, the 2011 film Singham as well as to the previous releases of Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor and Rohit Shetty. Interestingly, Singham Returns has clocked a much better opening weekend collecting Rs. 77.69 crores as compared to Singham that recorded just Rs. 30.98 crores.

 

Simultaneously, Singham Returns becomes Ajay Devgn's Highest Opening Weekend Grosser out beating his previous releases like Son Of Sardaar that collected Rs. 66.02 crores, Bol Bachchan that collected Rs. 43.10 crores and Satyagraha that managed Rs. 39.12 crores.

 

On the other hand, the film becomes Kareena Kapoor's third Highest Opening Weekend grosser behind Ra.One that collected Rs. 92 crores and Bodyguard that collected Rs. 88.75 crores. However, the film manages to overtake her previous releases like Satyagraha that collected Rs. 39.12 crores and Golmaal 3 that collected Rs. 33.58 crores.

 

Similarly, Singham Returns shies away from becoming Rohit Shetty's highest Opening Weekend grosser narrowly missing the mark that continues to be held by Chennai Express that collected Rs. 100.42 crores.
