Box Office: Ram Setu and Thank God - Weekend updates

The extended week/weekend for Diwali releases is now over. The picture is much clearer around how the final verdict. Released on Tuesday, both Ram Setu and Thank God got ample number of screens and shows for themselves with adequate showcasing. There was no real competition from any other films and all that they needed to do was being entertaining enough to attract audience footfalls so that collections in days post Diwali are stable and then the weekend sees further growth all over again.

In that aspect, Ram Setu has managed some sort of numbers for itself from where it can continue to ring in some more numbers at the box office in days to follow. As for Thank God, it has unfortunately seen poor numbers with steady declines not really helping the cause. The trend was pretty much similar for both the films during the weekend with no real high coming in. The only thing that differentiated the two films was that Ram Setu still had a bit of cushioning due to opening day number of Rs. 15.25 crores while Thank God started with Rs. 8.10 crores.

 

Still, the six-day collections are not in synch with the kind of credentials that both films came with, as well as superstars who are at the helm of affairs. Akshay Kumar has given the highest number of 100 Crore Club successes along with Salman Khan, what with 15 such biggies to his name. On the other hand, Ajay Devgn is the next best with 12 centuries to his name. In fact, Ajay's last biggie Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior had scored a massive double century back just before the pandemic while Akshay's Sooryavanshi scored a near double century post pandemic.

 

However, both would have to wait for their next biggie as far as scoring their next century is concerned. Ram Setu currently stands at Rs. 56 crores and could end up having a lifetime score of Rs. 80-85 crores. On the other hand, Thank God is much lower at Rs. 29.25 crores and could be aiming for Rs. 40 crores lifetime. Akshay Kumar's next release would be in 2023 and one waits to see which is the film that he decides to bring next. As for Ajay, he has Drishyam 2 coming up in just a few days from now and that film may just emerge as a biggie.
