Box Office: Rajinikanth has a better outing with Kabali [Hindi]

 

Rajinikanth can feel a little better about his tryst with audience pan-India. After the disastrous run of Kochadaiiyaan and Lingaa, he had to find some sort of patronage with his fans and followers beyond just the jokes and the legendary tales that have been floating around for a few years now. The man never lost out on the popularity quotient, especially in the times of social media and WhatsApp. In fact it is remarkable that the man in his 60s is finding so much attention from the youth across the country as well. However, what it all boiled down to was whether these very youth were interested in watching him in theaters too.

This is the reason why Kabali saw a good size release as well [1000 screens] and fair number of shows coming its way. The timing was good too since the film didn't have to worry about the screen count for itself. Sultan is on its way out, Madaari needed just a niche release and there was no Hollywood biggie in sight either. The stage was set well and all that Kabali had to do was turn out to be a product good enough that would warrant the kind of escalation in footfalls that would have made it hot property for the rest of the week as well.

 

As of now, it is finding itself on the middle ground as Rs. 19.15 crore over the weekend for the Hindi version are neither bad nor remarkable. These are just about decent collections and have primarily come on account of those who stepped into the film, courtesy immense hype surrounding it en route release. The real picture would be known in days to come as neutral audience would start stepping in.
