Box Office Prediction: Phillauri to open around 3 crore mark

 

Two years after NH10, Anushka Sharma is now ready with her second production, Phillauri. Just like her debut production outing, this one too boasts of a different theme and one has to give it to Anushka for trying out varied genres and subjects film after film. While NH10 was set in Gurgaon [Haryana], Phillauri is set in Phillaur [Punjab] and is a much rotted affair. This also means that from the opening numbers perspective, it would be contained to begin with due to the film's localized appeal.Box Office Prediction: Phillauri to open around 3 crore mark

 

Phillauri is looking at an opening day number of around Rs. 3 crore, which would be a decent start for it. This would be actually on the same lines as Kahaani [Rs. 3 crore] (Kolkata), Tanu Weds Manu [Rs. 3.2 crore] (Kanpur), NH10 [Rs. 3.35 crore] (Gurgaon) and Sarbjit [Rs. 3.69 crore] (Tarn Taran - Punjab) which had a localized appeal and had a female as the central protagonist. Anything in this range would be fair for the film and if numbers are higher then that would be an added bonus.

 

Second release of the week is Anaarkali of Arrah. The film has seen just about decent promotion and yet again, it has a very localized appeal [Arrah, Bihar]. The film has Swara Bhaskar in the lead and after Nil Battey Sannaata, she is returning as a central protagonist again. One doesn't expect much of a footfall for the film on the opening day since the buzz is hardly there. The first challenge for the film would be to see good showcasing at premium multiplexes across the country.
