Box Office Prediction: Jayeshbhai Jordaar to open in Rs. 4-5 crores range

Four and a half months after the release of 83, Ranveer Singh would be arriving with Jayeshbhai Jordaar this Friday. The film has been ready for a while and could well have been released last year itself, but then was held back due to the pandemic situation. Though YRF did have a choice to bring it on OTT, they chose to take the theatrical route first, just like they did with even Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar as well as Bunty Aur Babli 2. From that perspective, what they did is truly commendable.

That said, the film's promo has garnered just about an average response. One expected something truly special from this film but the overall theme of the film is centered on being a social drama with some bit of humour thrown in. Yes, Ranveer has gone through a look change and seems unrecognizable. However, still, the pull factor isn’t quite there for the first-day audience perspective since this appears more like a word-of-mouth film. Also, even though Shalini Pandey of Arjun Reddy fame is making her Bollywood big screen debut with the film, there isn’t much hype.

 

During pre-pandemic, the film could well have taken an opening of around Rs. 8-9 crores, given names like Ranveer Singh and Aditya Chopra involved. However, given the kind of opening that many Hindi biggies have received, it would be decent enough if Friday collections are in Rs. 4-5 crores range.
