Box Office: Pari weekend is one of the better amongst female centric drama/horror genre; collects Rs. 15.34 cr on opening weekend

Though on Friday morning it had seemed that Pari would struggle to register decent numbers, there was a turnaround evidenced right from the evening and night shows itself. Despite the fact that the reviews were not too favourable either, loyal audiences of horror genre were still keen to give it a dekko. This was evidenced from the fact that after an opening day of Rs. 4.36 crore, the weekend did see a good rise in numbers as Rs. 15.34 crore came in.

As a result, the film's collections so far are now one of the better ones in female centric drama/horror genre. Vidya Balan's Kahaani 2 [Rs. 16.97 crore] and Sonakshi Sinha's Akira [Rs. 16.65 crore] had registered some of the best collections in this genre during last couple of years and now Anushka Sharma's Pari has found a place in this range too.

 

The real test begins from here on because a genre like this has limited audience and hence word of mouth would now come into play. Hardcore fans of horror genre are presumed to have had a dekko in the first three days itself and now it has to be seen how footfalls consolidate in days to come. If Monday numbers for Pari turn out to be in the vicinity of even Rs. 3 crore, it would be a good enough hold as that would guarantee weekdays to bring in Rs. 10 crore mark.

 

It is going to be a wait and watch scenario for the film from this point on.
