Box Office: Mission Mangal takes a lead over Batla House at advance booking; all set for a 20+ cr opening

This Independence Day we will see two big ticket Bollywood films viz. Mission Mangal and Batla House going head to head at the box office. While the first features Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha and Nithya Menen the latter stars John Abraham. But the question remains of the two films, which one will eventually take the lead.

Not surprisingly, it is Mission Mangal that has taken the lead when it comes to advance bookings. In fact, both films which are slated to release on Thursday saw advance bookings open on Sunday, with the Akshay Kumar starrer reportedly taking a huge lead. Major multiplex chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis have recorded a better advance booking for Mission Mangal as compared to Batla House. The reason behind this higher rate of bookings is being attributed to the fact that even though the film is a women centric film, having a protagonist like Akshay has acted as a catalyst. Besides this, the fact that Akshay Kumar has over the years become synonymous with rather patriotic films, an Independence Day release from the actor is pretty anxiously awaited.

 

Given the current advance booking trend, it is likely that Mission Mangal could have an opening day of around 20+ cr. In fact, it will not be a surprise if the film features amongst Top 3 openers for an Akshay starrer.
