Box Office: JugJugg Jeeyo leads on Friday, Om sees a reasonable start at the single screens, Rocketery set to grow with immense appreciation

It was films across genres that brought audiences at the multiplexes and single screens, and in pockets on Friday. JugJugg Jeeyo was the holdover release of the week and Rocketry and Om were the new arrivals. While the Karan Johar produced family entertainer led the show with the best collections amongst all, the other two did expected business with the target audiences.

Let’s talk about JugJugg Jeeyo first. The film managed to hold itself on the second Friday with collections to the tune of Rs. 3.03 crores. That was required too so that there was enough potential for growth over the weekend. This should happen too since trending from Thursday to Friday is good, and moreover shows for the film are also being apparently increased. Currently standing at Rs. 56.69 crores, the film should now cross Rs. 75 crores lifetime.

 

Om was the new Bollywood release of the week and it has actually done better than expected with Rs. 1.51 crores coming in. For this film as well as Rocketry, it was predicted in this column that Rs. 75 lakhs – Rs. 1 crores would come in. That was a conservative number of course owing to sheer unpredictability that has seeped in at the box office in 2022 when it is behaving rather strange. Of course had the film released in 2019 then a start of Rs. 4-5 crores was on the cards but currently it’s the single screens that are contributing the most for the Aditya Roy Kapur film.

 

On the other hand Rocketry has seen immense appreciation coming its way from all quarters and is easily one of the best reviewed films of the year. Amongst the target audiences, the critical acclaim that it has managed is akin to that of The Kashmir Files. The collections are around Rs. 1.25 crores* and though they are nowhere in line with the merits of the film, what could well be evidenced from here on is good jump today and tomorrow. In fact it won’t be surprising if the Madhavan starrer ends up doubling its Friday collections on Saturday.
