Box Office: Gully Boy becomes Ranveer Singh’s second highest opening day grosser

Ranveer Singh ended 2018 with a bang, with his release Simmba rocking the box office. Starting off his new year, Ranveer was on cloud nine with Simmba continuing to run to packed houses. Now the actor’s latest release Gully Boy has managed to bolster his box office magnetism even further. Directed by Zoya Akhtar and also featuring Alia Bhatt, Gully Boy released yesterday across 3350 screens in the domestic market.

Collecting Rs. 19.40 cr on its opening day, Gully Boy has managed to become Ranveer’s second highest opening day grosser till date. Though the business of the film does not manage to surpass his previous release Simmba that collected Rs. 20.72 cr, it does manage to fare better that Ranveer’s other releases.

 

In fact, the opening day collections of Gully Boy have featured better figures than Ranveer Singh’s other releases like, Padmaavat that collected Rs. 19 cr, Gunday that collected Rs. 16.12 cr, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela that collected Rs. 16 cr, Bajirao Mastani that collected Rs. 12.80 cr, Dil Dhadkne Do that collected Rs. 10.53 cr, Befikre that collected Rs. 10.36 cr, Kill Dil that collected Rs. 6.53 cr, and Lootera that had collected Rs. 5.15 cr.

 

As of now, with little to no competition from other releases, Gully Boy that enjoys a massive screen count coupled with positive reviews and good word of mouth is expected to see even further growth over its opening weekend.
