Badrinath Ki Dulhania is a Superhit! The film had a very good Week One as it went on to garner Rs. 73.66 crore at the Box Office. The film brought in Rs. 5.06 crore more on Thursday and that marks a very good hold for it right through its first week. The film has consolidated the position of Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in the industry in a very good way. The duo is the most consistent of the lot when it comes to newcomers finding audiences for them. While Varun has been dabbling with commercial affairs throughout, Alia has been primarily working on multiplex films. Hence, the film should have further sweet spot for her as with Badrinath Ki Dulhania, she is pretty much entering the zone that Kareena Kapoor Khan occupied when it comes to entertainment for the masses.

 

For director Shashank Khaitan, it is a good second step in the industry as he has delivered another good hit after Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. That film had enjoyed a lifetime business of Rs. 78 crore and as things seem currently, Badrinath Ki Dulhania should manage to cross that total today.

 

Karan Johar's faith in his newcomer directors has paid off as other than Ayan Mukherjee [Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani], Karan Malhotra [Agneepath] and Abhishek Varman [2 States], now Shashank Khaitan should also enter into the Rs. 100 Crore Club.
