83 Box Office Day 3: 83 collects Rs. 47 cr on first weekend; becomes Ranveer Singh’s 5th highest opening weekend grosser

The Ranveer Singh starrer 83 was released last week on Friday. Directed by Kabir Khan the film which is based on India’s win at the 1983 World Cup opened on a good note, with the audience and critics taking a liking to the film. Living up to expectations the film managed to draw in Rs. 47 cr on its opening weekend.

Collecting Rs. 47 cr, 83 manages to become Ranveer’s fifth highest opening weekend grosser. Interestingly, the first weekend business of 83 out beats Ranveer’s previous releases like Bajirao Mastani that collected Rs. 46.77 cr, Gunday that collected Rs. 43.93 cr, Dil Dhadakne Do that collected Rs. 37.05 cr, Befikre that collected Rs. 34.36 cr, and Kill Dil that collected Rs. 20.18 cr.  However, leading the list of Ranveer Singh’s highest opening weekend grossers are his films like Padmaavat that collected Rs. 114 cr, Simmba that collected Rs. 75.11 cr, Gully Boy that collected Rs. 72.45 cr, and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela collected Rs. 52.75 cr.

 

Currently, 83 still continues to run with audiences thronging to theatres. Despite the competition from Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Pushpa the Kabir Khan directorial has managed to retain a hold at the box office. In fact, as per trade predictions, 83 will continue to see growth in collections as the week progresses.
