Readers would be aware that there was a major uproar this year regarding the Oscars 2023 as many films were battling it out to be India’s official entry in the category. However, eventually it was decided that the Gujarati film Chello Show (The Last Show) will be sent for nomination. While many were disappointed, a few others even took to social media to share their disappointment and some fans even demanded the entry of RRR to be a part of it. Now fans of the latter would be thrilled to know that, the film’s name has finally been recommended for the Academy Awards but it will be in the music category. The song ‘Naatu Naatu’ has been sent to be nominated in the Best Original Song category.
RRR has been receiving a lot of accolades at international film festivals along with receiving appreciation from American celebrities. Coming to the song ‘Naatu Naatu’ the iconic step of the song picturized on Ram Charan and Junior NTR set a new trend on social media during the film’s release as many shared reels and videos of them trying to recreate the same. In fact, recently, when Ram Charan received an honor in Delhi, he too danced on stage along with a few fans, recreating the moments from the film. The original song was written by Chandrabose in Telugu and the music was composed by M.M. Keeravani, with the dance being choreographed by Prem Rakshith.
Interestingly, the song has already received the Golden Globe award for Best Original Song. In the same awards the film also won the award for Best Non-English Film.
RRR gained immense box office in India and worldwide. The film, directed by S.S, Rajamouli, was recently released in Japan owing to its massive popularity across the globe. For the unversed, the film also features Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, among others.
