One also saw the presence of the original ‘diva’ Helen, Aruna Irani, music composers Anandji and Pyarelal, who were responsible for many of Asha Parekh’s hit tracks.
Even though the veteran writer Salim Khan and his daughter Alvira Khan Agnihotri were one of the firsts to arrive, they left a bit early. Imran Khan, who had turned up with his mother Nuzhat, obliged his fans by clicking selfies with them. In the end, Asha Parekh aka ‘the lady of the moment’ thanked everyone for having taken time out to make it to the book launch. She also added a special ‘heartfelt’ thanking message for Salman Khan.
Contrary to his onscreen persona, the veteran actor Dharmendra made a quite entry at the venue. This was followed by Salman Khan hugging him cordially and touching his feet to seek his blessings.
Amongst all others, the one who made heads turn was everyone’s darling Salman Khan, who hugged an emotional Asha Parekh. He also made it a point to mention in his speech that, ‘today's girls need to learn from these aunties’. He also pointed out the difference between today’s ‘best friends’ and yesteryear’s best friends like the late Sadhana and Nanda, Asha, Waheeda, Shammi and Helen. He made no qualms in accepting the fact that, the present generation should follow the oldies’ generation who lived the cleanest life possible- professionally and personally.
When Asha Parekh was ‘gheraaoed’ by her fans at the venue while she was signing autographs on the books, Jackie Shroff, in his true blue gentleman style, ‘rescued’ her and spread smiles all over.
