"Rocket Singh will make a huge difference to my ongoing career. It's a huge step for me and I'll only be doing films now. Films are what I'm concentrating on. This Friday will tell the story", says the confident Shazahn Padamsee. The road is just laid for the newbie to walk in the Bollywood domain. Here's another good-looking bit of fluff stealing another prime role but more importantly, through a combination of the usual luck and, above all, hard work and persistence, she's carved herself into a fine actress. Tomorrow is just around the corner and Shazahn's countdown has begun. Looking at her pictures, she comes across as the people's princess: young, dynamic and purposeful. So respected is she by her peers that everyone and anyone wants to know about her. For some, she came out of nowhere, for some she was a sudden revelation and off into the hands of Yash Raj Films. Now that's discovery. Having known Shazahn for a full half an hour, it can be said that success tastes sweeter the longer you have to wait for it. Many, many young actors lay claim to integrity. You won't catch me in a blockbuster, they say, when there's interesting and challenging work to be done. Then come the offers of fame and money and so seduced they fall, in their thousands, their pretty faces snapped up one by one. A few stand firm, and we hope that Miss Padamsee is one of them. In part two of this exclusive interview, Shazahn, steps boldly outside her comfort zone to talk about her two years of maddening auditions, her take on Aditya Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor and the two very special people in her life: Alyque Padamsee and Sharon Prabhakar. Oh! A bit of Rocket Singh too. Given the intelligence and talent she's exhibited in her short career, it's not outrageous to suggest she may one day be ranked alongside the greats...and then of course, the challenges and the glorious success will surely continue.
