Popstar Taylor Swift gave a big gift to her followers after her original version of ‘Wildest Dreams’ started trending on TikTok. This week, in order to accomplish her mission to re-record her entire discography, Taylor dropped the latest re-recorded version of the original song.
She previously presented her new take on the song in the trailer for the animated film Spirit Untamed. She shared the news on TikTok, apparently prompted by the platform’s slow zoom effect. Last month, Swift joined TikTok for the first time, sharing details about her upcoming Red (Taylor’s Version). The Grammy winner wrote on TikTok, “Someone said slow zoom makes you look like the main character I said make it Taylor’s Version pls #wildestdreamstaylorsversion #swifttok #slowzoom.”
She added, “Felt cute might drop the whole song later.”
Swift rereleased 2008's Fearless as Fearless (Taylor's Version) back in April, and she then announced in June that a re-release of 2012's Red. When Swift made her debut on TikTok, she shared a video in which she replicated some of her past album looks, including ones for Fearless and Red.
The dreamy synth-pop song with its romantic sentiment is indeed Taylor-made for a dramatic effect that feels like a movie moment and the track’s official video takes place on a film set to boot.
On August 6 this year, she announced Red (Taylor’s Version) and wrote, “I know some of you thought that would be like trying to solve a crossword and realizing there’s no right answer BUT…you played it good & right. Congrats pals, you guessed the correct titles and feature artists on Red (my version). The vault tracks will feature @chrisstapleton, @phoebebridgers, @markfoster and the first song @teddysphotos and I ever wrote together the first time we met in 2012! I can’t express my gratitude enough to these artists for helping me bring these songs to life. I can’t wait til we can dust off our highest hopes and relive these memories together. We’ll also be making a bunch of new ones too, since Red (Taylor’s Version) includes so many songs you haven’t heard yet. Til then, I’ll be counting down and picturing it all in my head. In burning red.”
