Rani Mukerji plays the character of a doting mother in Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway, whose children were taken away from her.

With over two decades in the industry, Rani Mukerji has proved her mettle time and again with her powerful performances. From the girl-next-door to a bold and fierce cop, she has played a wide range of memorable characters. Making another addition to the same, in her latest release, Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway, Rani essays the role of a doting mother. Recently, she spoke about her process of working on the film while stating that she will go “mental” if someone took away her daughter Adira from her.

Interestingly, Rani will be featured in the third episode of Kareena Kapoor Khan-hosted talk show, What Women Want, and the promo of the same was shared recently. In the promo, Kareena asked Rani if she thought of her daughter Adira while performing the part. Rani replied within seconds saying, “Not at all Bebo.”

She continued, “The story is so painful that I couldn’t place myself in her shoes. So, I actually channelled my energy through my mother. I just thought that what would my mother do if somebody took me and Raja away from her. I think I would go mental.”

For the unversed, the Ashima Chibber directorial is inspired by the real-life story of Sagarika Chakraborty and her husband, whose children were taken away by the Norwegian authorities in 2011. Earlier, Rani had said, “I have given it my all to bring Sagarika’s daunting struggle of getting her kids back on celluloid. I have seen how my mom, a Bengali mother, is fiercely protective of her children and I saw the same traits in Sagarika when I learnt about her life story. So, two Bengali moms have actually inspired me to play this role and I’m so proud that it is resonating with people, especially mothers, across India,” in a statement.

Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway was released on March 17 and the film continues to perform decently at the box office.
