4 Very Good

Frankly, I got the interest to listen to Tashan only because Udit Narayan had 2 songs. So I started with those 2 songs and I loved them. I decided to hear everything out and actually I love this album. My review might be biased because of this but nevertheless I will try to do a decent job on my review. I was also pleasantly surprised that it was Vishal-Sekhar and not the shitty Pritam composing music for this movie !

* Dil Haare: A solo song by Sukhwinder Singh amidst heavy rock guitar strumming. This is a mediocre song. Definitely not a song you'd like as soon as you hear it. The highlight of the song is definitely the rock guitar strumming. It would be a good song for a discotheque. The ending of the song however is impressive. Heavy beats and fast paced ending !
* Chaaliya: Sung by sunidhi chauhan, this song reminded me of some tamil song. The start was definitely ripped or "inspired" from some song. It gets better after a shaky start. It gets fast paced and I thought it was very catchy. The fast paced portion of the song will surely go well with the audience. "Na Lada Na Lada, Tu Ankh Na Lada" is the line that will keep echoing in the song. One catch though, to me it seemed more inspired from "Dhoom macha le" ... However, Good song !
* Dil Dance Maare: A true tapori song. Very catchy right from the start. Sukhwinder Singh gives a very good start followed by Udit and Sunidhi. A mix of the colloquial hindi or rather bhojpuri, broken english words, dhinchak, harmonium, and rock guitar makes this song a very good listen. The lyrics make the song even more enjoyable. Not to take the credit from Sukhwinder and Sunidhi, but Udit totally dominates the song varying the pitch and style at unexpected times. Watch out for the line where he goes "Can't stop my feet ...", truly colloquial and earthy. He is truly a great singer and is in total control of the song yet again !
* Falak Tak Chal: This is my favorite song in the album. Sung brilliantly by Udit Narayan and Mahalaxmi providing able support. A very melodious, romantic and soothing song which is very easy on the ears. This is a song that you'd love the moment you hear it. The guitar musicals are extremely good. The middle portion of the song with a fusion of flute, and electric guitar is brilliant. It's very good to see Udit Narayan come back to limelight with a smashing song. He is known for his fresh voice and amazing rendition. Excellent excellent song. Excellent work by Vishal-Shekhar !
* Tashan Mein: This is supposedly the title track. I found this very good to listen to after couple of hearings. Punjabi lyrics with fast-paced racy music will make it a sure shot chartbuster. This is one of those songs which will grow on you with time. I heard it quite a few times before writing this review.
* Voice vocals: Each of the main lead (Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, and Kareena Kapoor) have couple of lines to say about Tashan. This is more like a recital. The one by Anil Kapoor is the best !

With couple of sure shot chart busters and couple of good songs, the music of Tashan has definitely lived up to its expectation. The music combo of Vishal Shekar has hit the bulls eye after their previous success Om Shanti Om. I particularly liked the guitar musicals in every song. A very good album.
