India woke up to the worst news in recent history in September 2016 when soldiers of the Indian army fell victim to the attacks that happened in Uri, in Jammu and Kashmir. Post that, the Indian army decided to fight it back by attacking the 11 alleged militants in Pakistan. Adapting it into a film titled Uri, Aditya Dhar decided to bring forth the story of Indian surgical strike of 2016 with Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam in the lead. The first look of Vicky Kaushal from the film was released recently right before the teaser of the film hit the tube.

Vicky Kaushal took to Twitter to repost his look from his forthcoming film Uri. No points for guessing! The actor plays the role of an Indian army officer in the film and undoubtedly, the poster reflects the intensity of the character and the situation. He shared this picture on his Twitter handle, saying, “In the early hours of 29th September 2016, Indian soldiers avenged those who were martyred in the URI attacks. This is their brave story.”

Jammu and Kashmir, which has been a war zone since years, suddenly found itself under attack when the Pakistani force attacked the border in Uri two years ago. Followed by the death of many officers, the Indian army decided to strike back with vengeance and it has now become one of the most significant incidents in history. The film is also expected to feature Yami Gautam as a RAW officer whereas veteran actor Paresh Rawal too is supposed to be playing an integral role.

Speaking on the film, producer Ronnie Screwvala believes that it is a tribute to army officers. He said, “URI is a passion project, a story that must be told as it showcases India’s intelligence and military might. The youth of this nation must see who our real heroes are. ” Here's the glimpse of the recently released trailer:

“I am glad to know that a film is being made to honour our armed forces for their services and sacrifice. I am looking forward to it," said Ajit Doval, the National Security Advisor.

Based on the surgical strike carried out by the Indian army on Pakistani terrorists positioned across the Line of Control, Uri is produced by RSVP movies and it is slated to release on January 11, 2019.
