Sridevi begins her last journey and this might be one of the darkest days, Bollywood has ever seen. Gone too soon, Sridevi was one of the first female superstars of the country. Heartbroken, family members and industry wallahs bid a teary goodbye to the actress today at Celebrations Sports Club in Andheri. Now, the funeral and last rites for the actress have begun. Kapoor family has put a united front, sensing the gravity of the situation. First pics of the grand procession are out. One can see Khushi, Jahnavi and the entire family standing grimly alongside mortal remains of Sridevi draped in Indian tricolour.

As mentioned by us earlier, the actress will be cremated with state honours. A police band has already reached the venue and a track has been decorated with the actress’ favourite flowers, and the who’s who of the South and Hindi film industry have gathered as well to pay their last respects. While Sridevi passed away on Saturday night, her mortal remains were released to family only yesterday. After a tedious procedure undertaken by the Dubai authorities, Sridevi’s body was then released and handed over to the next of her kin: Husband Boney Kapoor and brother in law Sanjay Kapoor. Well, while we still wrap our heads around this catastrophe, we pray that her soul rests in peace finally.

While Sridevi was given farewell by the state and her family stood by her, heartbroken and sad yet proud of the legacy that she left behind. One can see that Boney Kapoor's eldest son from his marriage to Mona Shourie was present by his side throughout. He was pillar of strength to Boney and Sridevi's daughters Khushi and Jahnavi Kapoor.

The procession will go to the Pawan Hans Crematorium in the city. This is a very trying time for Boney and family and we hope that he finds strength in these bleak times. If there were any rumours about the Kapoor family not getting along after Boney married Sridevi, they were squashed as the crises brought the family together.

Cops are finding it very difficult to control the crowd as the procession moves towards the crematorium. Roads from Andheri to Juhu are jam packed. Fans from all over the country have come to pay last respects to the late star.
