Priyanka Chopra’s Pahuna receives standing ovation at the Toronto Indian Film Festival : Bollywood News

While we won’t call her career devoid of struggles, Priyanka Chopra undoubtedly has traced a unique path for herself. Her journey from a beauty queen to an award winning Bollywood actress to a Hollywood star to a famous producer is worth applauding. Now she has made it big with a Sikkimese film Pahuna and has even taken it across international borders.

Recently, Priyanka Chopra, who was honoured at the Toronto Indian Film Festival in Canada, had taken her film Pahuna along with mother and co-producer Madhu Chopra as well as director of the film Paakhi. In fact, the actress was overwhelmed after the screening of the film since she received a standing ovation for the same. Sharing about the moment on social media, Priyanka not only shared pictures of the event but even a video after the film was screened.

She posted this video on her Instagram page adding, “Never be ok with hearing the word no...because there will always be someone who will say "yes." I'm very proud of my first time "female" director @paakhi for having the courage to not give up, when people didn't believe this film could be made. Bravo for wanting to tell a beautiful story that may not be what people consider mainstream... but today had a world premiere on an international platform at @tiff_net, with an applause that resonated for a very long time. Tonight an audience watched this film for the first time outside of our offices at @purplepebblepictures, and told us how proud they were that a story like this was told.”

Besides this she also thanked everyone who stood by her and supported her in her endeavours. “Thank u @madhuchopra for your keen eye. Thank you @cameronpbailey for the opportunity to share this small film and a big message with a world audience...one about children's rights, the refugee crisis, religious conversion and the affect of adult decisions on kids from the perspective of our protagonists, who are 2 young kids from a small village in Sikkim. My heart swells at the thought of people standing up and applauding our effort. This is the reason I wanted to be a filmmaker.”

Priyanka Chopra was invited to the Toronto Indian Film Festival where she was to be honoured for her support and work towards various initiatives and causes as the Goodwill ambassador of UNICEF.
