Janhvi Kapoor is one brave girl as she has managed to keep her chin up and complete her film despite being struck with a massive tragedy of her mom passing away. Janhvi, the eldest born of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, has always been extremely close to her mom. Her foray into films and glam world happened at the same time her mom passed away suddenly in Dubai and nothing is more unfortunate than that. Since then, she has maintained a stoic stance focusing on completing her debut film Dhadak and carrying on with her life, piecing it together with her younger sister Khushi and dad Boney. In her first interview with Vogue, she opened up like never before. Her first cover was made even more special because her mentor Karan Johar was the interviewer. In a tell all piece, she for the first time, spoke about her mom in great detail and showed us her real, vulnerable side.

She spoke to Karan about the last time she needed her mother and if that does not make you tear up, nothing will. She recalled the time when her mom was all set to leave for Mohit Marwah-Antara Motiwala’s wedding for Dubai, little did she know that this was the last time she would see her. After a long day at shoot, Janhvi wanted Sri to tuck her in bed. Sridevi, who was packing for the wedding, finished the task at hand and soothed Janhvi to sleep. Now, it does not get more heart-breaking than this. Right? Janhvi said, “I could always be the baby with her. When I’d wake up, the first thing I’d do was ask for her. I’d need her to put me to sleep sometimes and she literally had to feed me. The day before she left for the wedding, I had to shoot, but I couldn’t sleep, so I was like - I need you to come and put me to sleep. But she was packing, so by the time she came to me I was half asleep. But I could feel her patting my head.”

There sure is a void in her life which never will be filled and we hope Dhadak is a massive success at the box office, just as Sri would have dreamt it to be.
