Issue - Repeat value

The film targets a substantial Muslim population. However, due to Moharram period, it is this segment of audience which is largely expected to shy away from the theatres. Moreover, even though the film is now being touted as a Valentine release, it has hardly made an impression with the youth so far! One doesn't take a Nostradamus to announce that for a film to scale greater heights at the box office, it needs to entice audience for a repeat viewing. But can't really expect the same from Jodhaa Akbar which at last count had its duration ranging from 3 hours to 3 hours 20 minutes. With patience level of audience taking a dip, especially in last 2-3 years, even a film of epic proportion like Jodhaa Akbar should better be gripping from beginning till the end.

Solution

None really. One can just trust UTV and Ashutosh to be doubly sure about their product so as to be sure about bringing a lengthy film to the theatres.
