Hijack is a strong film performance-wise. Through the film you see Vikram transform from a regular airport employee to a worried father who turns heroic to save his daughter. Shiney Ahuja proves yet again his ability to play out each emotional range of a character impeccably.

Throughout the film, Shiney either displays a manic grin guaranteed to out-Joker Heath Ledger or frowns so sleepily that one would fear for the well-being of the passengers aboard the ill-fated aircraft, if we cared about any of them.

The first half of the movie is slightly slow paced and meanders unnecessarily around the plot with scenes and songs that are not required. But the pace quickens in the second half suiting the air of the genre.

The film has a stunt-hero swinging from a helicopter, who'll rescue the hostages: another thing the promos tell you. They may not have shown you how he chases the aircraft on the runway hanging on a mobile staircase, before he calls in a helicopter in a matter of seconds.

There were moments in the theatre when people laughed – not because the script was funny – but at the scenes, at the script and at the overall ridiculousness of most of the portions of this film.

Kunal Shivdasani's Hijack is meant only for those who haven't ever seen a Hollywood movie in their lives. It's part Executive Decision, part Con Air.. oh forget it.

It's a remix of DIE HARD part one, AIR FORCE ONE and CON AIR. Same old story, bad guys get hold of an aircraft, demand release of their pals, start shooting hostages until one man finally saves them. In DIE HARD you had Bruce Willis playing the saviour, while here you have Shiny Ahuja, whose daughter is aboard the hijacked aircraft, playing the part of Willis.

As per the records around 900+ air-hijacks have taken place till date but no data is specified on the number of hijacks foiled. Perhaps none have been and this very assumption abandons the film’s credibility. More so with the film's pretentious approach where the hero single-handedly fights a group of hijackers, this one wins an impractical larger-than-life tag.

Hijack is like a Hollywood blockbuster in terms of execution, and Shiney Ahuja plays the 'tough action hero' perfectly. The only thing his character lacks is wit, and some smart humour would've added repeat value to the movie.

Director of Hijack Kunal Shivdasani claims the film is not a copy of Die Hard but it has been used as a reference point. It's just as well because then the movie would've become a bigger joke than it is now.
