Ugly aur Pagli is a romantic comedy, one that not only brings laughs but also smiles. It is the story of a girl and boy, one having had lost everything in love and one waiting for love to happen at every corner...

The hero of the film, Kabir, is madly in love with his dominatrix who loves ordering him about. Her fancies vary from playing truth or dare to getting him to wear a red petticoat and ride a cycle without a seat to nana nani park and ‘steal’ a red rose for her...

Ugly Aur Pagli doesn't quite work because it's corny and contrived and it tries too hard. For a romantic comedy to work, you have to like the couple enough to want them to end up together, but honestly there's little to like about either Kabir or Kuhu...

Eight, for acting with far more expertise than Mallikaji, and for hanging out in those disco dances with her, for being photographed without a permanent pout, and for well, just being more tolerable, Shorey gets another slap...

Ugly Aur Pagli is a film that today's youth will like and appreciate because of its funky narration. Add to it the performances. Sachin Khot's first movie as a director after a series of television shows reveals that he can very well be trusted to make more interesting films.

Ugly Aur Pagli clearly means to seek the same audience that made PNC's Pyaar Ke Side Effects a multiplex hit and, therefore, employs many of its strategies. But a formula still remains just that, and it comes with no guarantee.

Ugly Aur Pagli could even have struck a blow for women's lib. Why can't girls beat men up, anyway? Behind me, during the first half, a half-dozen giggly schoolgirls were eagerly counting slaps, trying to see if the film lived up to its cleverly devised '99 slaps, one kiss' tagline.

The movie truly belongs to Ranvir and Mallika. Mallika enacts the job very naturally and Ranvir is an incredible brilliant actor and portrays his character superbly. Tinnu Anand and Sushmita Mukherjee do well too. Zeenat Aman is there only for one sequence. The rest of the cast is just about average.

The film tries too hard to be funny but the gags falls flat at most occasions. Moreover the sluggish pace and the non-existent storyline literally test your patience. And why the hell did they make Ranvir Shorey dance to typical Bollywood tracks? The actor appears absolutely uncomfortable and clearly can’t dance saala...

Ugly Aur Pagli starts off well. And as there are just two main characters, the director manages to establish the characters well. But soon the scenes start getting repetitive, the pace slackens and the interval comes just at the right time. The second half is slower, different versions of the same scenes are repeated with a few witty and funny dialogues...
