The Randeep Hooda and Shahana Goswami starrer Ru Ba Ru is yet again an 'inspired' film. Mind you, that does not necessarily mean it's bad. In fact, the concept and the idea behind the film are very good. But somehow, something went amiss.

Sahana recreates her Rock On! magic and does well. Randeep seems to be stuck with his action hero image from D and Risk, but his efforts to play a romantic hero shows. Still, there is room for improvement, especially in the romantic scenes and dialogue delivery...

"Ru-Ba-Ru" has a delicious subtext to its romantic surface - don't leave the task of displaying emotions to a later time. You may never get there. "Ru-Ba-Ru" barely does. It just about makes it through the "Sliding Doors".

The movie attempts to be different but borrows heavily from the Tom Cruise starrer Vanilla Sky and If Only He Loved As There was No Tomorrow starring Jennifer Love Hewitt. There are shades of Meet Joe Black too.

1 of 1 people found this review helpful If only Indian filmmakers would show a little more concern in their selection of English films that they opt to remake in Hindi, life would have been easier. The setback with a film like Ru-Ba-Ru is that while it's remade in Hindi, it caters to a very select intelligentsia audience...
